I am the one who is still available in February
Looking for a couple who have watched somebody fade out over a winter
Every couple I have talked to on this board has the same story about somebody who was wonderful in September and unreachable by January. I have heard it enough times to think it is the defining feature of this city rather than a coincidence.
I am not that. I have been doing this seven years and the winters are when I have been most reliable, partly because I have nothing else on and partly because I grew up somewhere considerably worse than here and find the whole complaint faintly amusing.
Forty three, the east end, seven years in. Three arrangements, the longest four years, and it ended when she decided she wanted to stop, which was handled gracefully by everybody involved.
I have a house with a driveway, so a February evening at mine involves nobody standing outside anything.
What I want is one couple, over a long time, with both of them in it. I will ask the husband directly what he wants and I will take a vague answer seriously.
Not looking for anyone who wants somebody exciting, because I am the opposite of that and it is the point. Not looking for anything that lives on a phone. Not looking for a couple who are hoping to get through a first winter and see, because I would rather start in spring than be a trial run.
Before the first drink Replying goes through the connected platform, so nothing about you is shared until you decide to share it. Take contact slowly and keep identifying details back until trust is earned. Meet somewhere public the first time, with your own way home from it, and if you are a couple then go together. Tell someone outside it where you are going. Never send money to someone you have not met. And if a post or a reply reads wrong, flag it rather than talking yourself out of the feeling.
