My mother in law lives downstairs and everything is arranged around her
Looking for somebody who can do a weekday afternoon without complaint
My mother in law lives in the basement apartment of our house. She has done for six years, she will for as long as she needs to, and she is one of my favourite people. She also has no idea about any of this and she never will.
What that produces is a life arranged entirely around daylight. I do this on a weekday afternoon, always, away from home, and I am back before anybody notices a gap. In five years I have never once managed an evening and I have stopped trying.
Forty one, North York, married fourteen years, five of them like this. Three men in that time, one for nearly three years, and all of them were people whose own hours were unusual.
My husband knows everything and thinks the whole arrangement is funnier than I do.
I cannot host, obviously, and I am not going to be able to.
Not looking for anyone who only has evenings, which I know is most people. Not looking for anyone who will suggest we could manage a weekend away, because we could not and the suggestion always comes from somebody who has not been listening. Not looking for anyone who needs this to be a secret from his own household, which is a different thing entirely from what I am doing.
Before the first drink Replying goes through the connected platform, so nothing about you is shared until you decide to share it. Take contact slowly and keep identifying details back until trust is earned. Meet somewhere public the first time, with your own way home from it, and if you are a couple then go together. Tell someone outside it where you are going. Never send money to someone you have not met. And if a post or a reply reads wrong, flag it rather than talking yourself out of the feeling.
