I disappeared on somebody for six months and I am not proud of it
Looking for somebody who would rather have an awkward message than silence
I went quiet on somebody last year. Six months of seeing him, everything perfectly good, and then a bad stretch at work turned into a bad stretch at home and I stopped replying rather than saying any of that. He sent two messages and then stopped, which was the right thing to do and which I still feel awful about.
I am putting it in the post because it is the exact behaviour everybody on this board complains about, and because I would like to be held to something different.
What I have changed is small. If I need to stop, I say so in one sentence, the same day. I do not owe anybody an explanation and I do owe them the fact.
Thirty six, the west end, married ten years, four of them like this.
My husband knew what was happening at the time and told me plainly that I was being unfair, which I did not want to hear.
We cannot host, so this depends on somebody else having somewhere.
Not looking for anyone who wants a promise that I will never need to pause, because I might. Not looking for anyone who will take a pause as an ending. Not looking to be told it happens to everybody, which it does and which is not the point.
Before the first drink Replying goes through the connected platform, so nothing about you is shared until you decide to share it. Take contact slowly and keep identifying details back until trust is earned. Meet somewhere public the first time, with your own way home from it, and if you are a couple then go together. Tell someone outside it where you are going. Never send money to someone you have not met. And if a post or a reply reads wrong, flag it rather than talking yourself out of the feeling.
