Thin conversion, neighbour through the wall, and she works from home
Looking for somewhere else to be, and someone patient about it
The flat above us and the flat below us were the same house until nineteen eighty something, and whoever divided it up was not thinking about sound. Our neighbour works from home, we know her routine better than we know some of our friends, and there is no version of this that happens here.
Thirty five and thirty seven, the east, five years open. In five years the arrangement has never once been the difficult part. The difficult part has been geography, every single time, and it has ended two things that were otherwise going well.
He is fully in it. He is not in the room, he is at home, and he wants to hear about it afterwards in more detail than she usually has the energy to provide. That is a running joke rather than a problem.
What would change everything is a man with his own place, anywhere within an hour, and enough patience to work around a couple who have to plan. We are not asking anybody to make it easy. We are asking somebody not to be surprised by it in week three.
Not looking for anyone who thinks this is a solvable problem we have simply not tried hard enough at. Not looking for anyone who wants to be spontaneous, because we cannot be, and pretending otherwise wastes a month. Not looking for someone who will say the geography is fine and mean it only while he is interested.
Before the first drink Replying goes through the connected platform, so nothing about you is shared until you decide to share it. Take contact slowly and keep identifying details back until trust is earned. Meet somewhere public the first time, with your own way home from it, and if you are a couple then go together. Tell someone outside it where you are going. Never send money to someone you have not met. And if a post or a reply reads wrong, flag it rather than talking yourself out of the feeling.
Before you answer a post like this
Two people wrote this together, and both of them have to say yes to you. These are the three written for the man on the other end of it.
- What makes a single man read as safe
- Vetting a couple: the screening men skip
- The first meeting: a drink, all three of you
