The issue is most likely what we call Lymphedema, and it’s actually quite common:-) Lymph consists mainly of protein, water, white blood cells, and waste. It circulates through your body’s tissues into the lymphatic system, which comprises lymph vessels and nodes. This system acts essentially as a filter: it pulls toxins from the tissues, filters them via the lymph nodes, and finally expels those toxins through the bloodstream.

Pregnant women frequently experience Lymphedema, just like millions of other people do. Lymphedema occurs when lymphatic fluid builds up in an extremity because normal lymph flow is disrupted. Surgery, radiation therapy, infection, scarring—or direct blockage by a base ring or tight compartment (like a Chastity device!)—can alter this drainage.:-)

Lymphedema caused by chastity devices typically shows a slow progression of swelling, starting at the top of the foreskin and moving up the shaft. The testicles can also get “pumped”.

Is it dangerous? Not really. Since the lymph system helps clear waste from the blood, this isn’t something that stays stuck forever without some relief to the blockage. However, if the blockage persists for a long time, the affected area’s ability to fight off infections (from skin pinching, etc.) decreases. Once the blockage is relieved, the system returns to normal. Usually, this happens within a couple of hours; in more severe cases, it might take days, but the swelling will go down! If the swelling hasn’t subsided after a few days, you might have issues beyond simple blockage, and you should see a doctor.

When I was wearing my device, my wife set up a routine to prevent heavy swelling: she had me out of the cage for 30 minutes each day. That gave us time to clean up—sometimes shaving—and perhaps enjoy some teasing if I was lucky. We also cleaned the chastity device itself (as mentioned). Because blockage increases infection risk, keeping everything clean is crucial.

A good general rule is not to put the device back on until all swelling has gone down. We’re all different, and some people react more strongly to the blockage. Obviously, a looser fit reduces or even eliminates Lymphedema swelling. Conversely, some prefer a tighter fit, which helps during nighttime erections and such. But in my experience—especially with those night erections—it’s what leads to Lymphedema.
