We have a table for six and nobody we can be honest with
Looking for another couple for dinner and conversation, and genuinely nothing else
We have a dining table that seats six, a house with room in it, and not one person in our life who knows what our marriage actually contains.
That is the whole post. Two years into this, going well, and the thing we did not anticipate is the loneliness. Every dinner we host, every long weekend with friends, there is a subject we are steering around. Neither of us minds keeping it private. What wears is never once being able to say it out loud to anybody who would not be appalled.
Thirty six and forty, northern New Jersey. So: another couple. Dinner at ours or somewhere neutral. Talk about it if we want to, talk about nothing if we do not. We would be as happy with a couple who are eight years in and bored of the subject as with one who is full of questions.
We want to say clearly that this is not a coded post. We are not looking for another couple to be involved with. We are not looking for a third. If either of those is what you are after, we will be lousy company and it will be an awkward evening for all four of us.
Not looking to be part of anything organised. Not looking for a group. Not looking for anyone who will spend the evening waiting for the real reason we invited them.
Before the first drink Replying goes through the connected platform, so nothing about you is shared until you decide to share it. Take contact slowly and keep identifying details back until trust is earned. Meet somewhere public the first time, with your own way home from it, and if you are a couple then go together. Tell someone outside it where you are going. Never send money to someone you have not met. And if a post or a reply reads wrong, flag it rather than talking yourself out of the feeling.
Before you answer a post like this
Nobody here is asking for a date, so none of this is about arranging one.
