Single men in this never talk to each other, which is a shame
Looking for other men who have been the third, to talk to about the endings
Men in my position do not talk to each other. Couples have each other by definition. Wives on this board seem to find one or two women to compare notes with. The single man has nobody, and I have been doing this nine years and have never once had a conversation with somebody in the same role.
What I would want to talk about is endings. Three arrangements, all of which finished for reasonable, undramatic reasons, and all three of which left me with something I had no idea what to do with. You are not bereaved and you are not dumped, and there is nothing in the language for what you are.
Forty four, the Westside. I am not asking for advice and I am certainly not offering any.
Coffee, a beer, a walk, whatever. I would like to know two or three men who understand the specific shape of this without a preamble.
Not looking for anything else, at all, and I want to be blunt about it because a man posting this on this board could be read several ways. Not looking to network my way to a couple, which would be a grim thing to do to somebody. Not looking to complain, exactly, though I imagine some of it would be complaining.
Before the first drink Replying goes through the connected platform, so nothing about you is shared until you decide to share it. Take contact slowly and keep identifying details back until trust is earned. Meet somewhere public the first time, with your own way home from it, and if you are a couple then go together. Tell someone outside it where you are going. Never send money to someone you have not met. And if a post or a reply reads wrong, flag it rather than talking yourself out of the feeling.
Before you answer a post like this
Nobody here is asking for a date, so none of this is about arranging one.
- What it is actually like, against what you imagined
- How to tell your partner you want this
- When there is no scene where you live
