Out past the last exit, and everybody in this world is an hour away
Looking for anybody at all within half an hour of here
Everybody I know in this world is at least an hour from my front door, and after five years of it I have worked out that the drive is why I see almost nobody.
We are out past where the freeway stops being useful, in a place chosen for a mortgage rather than a social life. It is a good house. It is also forty five minutes from anything, which means a coffee is a three hour commitment and gets postponed until it stops being suggested.
Forty seven, part of a couple, five years into an arrangement that is settled and requires nothing from anybody else. This post is not about that.
What I want is to know whether anybody else out here exists. I cannot believe we are the only two people at this end of the county, and yet every post I read is from somewhere I would have to plan a day around.
Coffee, lunch, a walk, anything in daylight within half an hour of here. Not looking for a third, for us or for anyone. Not looking for a group or an event, since organising one out here would defeat the point. Not looking for anybody who will say we should absolutely do that sometime and then look at a map.
Before the first drink Replying goes through the connected platform, so nothing about you is shared until you decide to share it. Take contact slowly and keep identifying details back until trust is earned. Meet somewhere public the first time, with your own way home from it, and if you are a couple then go together. Tell someone outside it where you are going. Never send money to someone you have not met. And if a post or a reply reads wrong, flag it rather than talking yourself out of the feeling.
Before you answer a post like this
Nobody here is asking for a date, so none of this is about arranging one.
- What it is actually like, against what you imagined
- How to tell your partner you want this
- When there is no scene where you live
