Nineteen years married and exactly one rule about time
Looking for somebody who can live inside a very specific window
We have exactly one rule and it is about time. I am home by eleven. Not most nights, not usually, always, and it has held for seven years across two arrangements and about two hundred evenings.
It is not about trust and it is not a curfew imposed on me. It is mine. I came up with it in the first month because I discovered that knowing an evening had a definite end was what let me relax inside it, and my husband thought it was unnecessary and has since admitted it was the single best decision we made.
Forty seven, the Westside, married nineteen years, seven of them like this. Two men, one for four years, one for eighteen months.
What it means practically is that an evening starts early. Six or seven, dinner, home before eleven, and nobody has to have a conversation about it at half past ten.
We can host, and when we do the same rule applies in reverse. Not looking for anyone who will try to negotiate the eleven o'clock, which two men did and both times it soured something. Not looking for anyone whose day does not really start until nine. Not looking for anyone who reads a firm rule as a lack of enthusiasm, because it is the reason I have any.
Before the first drink Replying goes through the connected platform, so nothing about you is shared until you decide to share it. Take contact slowly and keep identifying details back until trust is earned. Meet somewhere public the first time, with your own way home from it, and if you are a couple then go together. Tell someone outside it where you are going. Never send money to someone you have not met. And if a post or a reply reads wrong, flag it rather than talking yourself out of the feeling.
