He asks for exactly one detail afterwards, and never more
Looking for somebody who finds a small ritual charming rather than strange
When I get home my husband asks for one detail. One. Not the evening, not a summary, one specific small thing, and then that is the end of the conversation until the next morning if I want it.
It started by accident in our first year, when I came home wound up and could not face a debrief, and he asked what we had eaten. Somehow that became the whole ritual. It is the strangest and best thing about how we do this and neither of us can properly explain why it works.
Thirty five, the South Bay, married nine years, four of them like this. Two men in that time.
The reason it is in the post is that it tells you what kind of household you would be dealing with. He is completely informed and he has decided how much he wants at any given moment, which is not much, and that is not fragility.
We can host on weeknights. Not looking for anyone who wants to know what the detail was. Not looking for anyone who assumes a husband who wants less information is a husband who is struggling, because he has been asked and he is not. Not looking for anyone who needs to be central to how our house works.
Before the first drink Replying goes through the connected platform, so nothing about you is shared until you decide to share it. Take contact slowly and keep identifying details back until trust is earned. Meet somewhere public the first time, with your own way home from it, and if you are a couple then go together. Tell someone outside it where you are going. Never send money to someone you have not met. And if a post or a reply reads wrong, flag it rather than talking yourself out of the feeling.
