For the last twelve months I’ve been doing my homework on getting a full belt. The Arch feels like it’s meant for me, and initially, I leaned toward the cable rear configuration. My main concern was that the ergo rear might get quite messy during bathroom trips. But as I’ve dug deeper into how the ergo rear works, I’m beginning to see its potential.
Here are my current thoughts… Cable…It looks like there’s a split opinion: some folks just go with the cable right where it sits (which doesn’t look great), while others manage to shift it aside. There’s also talk that if you can pull it over, maybe your belt isn’t fitted tightly enough? I’m curious too—if someone shifts their cable side-to-side, does it stay put when they’re using both hands for cleanup? Or do they need one hand just to keep it in position? Since I’m quite active and visit the bathroom 2-3 times daily, showering right after each time or lugging wipes around doesn’t really work for me. Ergo Rear…If the hole is big enough and positioned correctly, this seems viable. It’s especially promising since it can be bent to match your body shape. However, I worry that precise measurement will be even more important here to align the belt’s hole perfectly with yours. Not everyone has their anatomy in exactly the same spot, and sitting down likely introduces another variable that might be tricky to gauge alone. Another question is comfort: how does it feel between the cheeks? It appears wider and flatter compared to the cable system. Also, can you get the Ergo rear in both bare steel and plastic-coated versions?
I’d value insights from anyone who actually wears either or both setups.
