Initially, my wife was put off by the appearance of metal cages, but she agreed to give them a closer look after I shared some comments I’d read. Beyond how they looked, her main concern was the weight and whether it would allow me to wear one for extended periods. I explained that many men find them comfortable, noting that a good metal cage weighs only slightly more than a quality plastic model like the CB-6000s. Another benefit is sanitation; open-style cages let me stay cleaner without requiring her to unlock me as often.
What she disliked were enclosed devices or those with tubes. I mentioned the MM Jail Bird, and the fact that it’s custom-made entirely in the US convinced her to investigate further. She liked what she read but preferred the look when an extra ring was added.
We prefer padlocks over cylinder-type locks for two reasons. First, if a lock fails, a padlock can be cut off without ruining an expensive cage. Second, my wife likes that the sound of the padlock clicking shut serves as both an auditory and physical reminder of who is in charge.
Here are my questions:
First, what’s the best way to determine size, particularly for the A-ring? Along those lines, which shape do people prefer: round or oval? I read a suggestion about using flexible ‘O’ rings from a hardware store, but I worry they won’t give an accurate feel of how a hard ring fits. What are your thoughts on the sizing rings sold by Mature Metal? Is the $25 price tag justified?
I’ve watched several videos of men putting on cages, but they don’t really address difficulty levels. My initial thought was to go with a hinged ring, yet I’ve read too many complaints about pinching at the hinge, even when using sleeves. I haven’t found a video showing a woman successfully placing a solid ring. How hard is it to pull the penis and testicles through? Is there significant pain or discomfort? Since women may not fully appreciate male sensitivity, have female keyholders had trouble putting men in these devices? Kitten insists on doing this herself!
One issue with the Jail Bird is the manufacturing and delivery lead time. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced knock-off that we could use while waiting for our custom piece? Trying this route might also help me get a better ‘feel’ (pun intended) for the correct cage length.
Please keep your comments focused on metal devices, as I have another thread dedicated to plastic cages.
