Fifty six, and the board's opinion of that is not my problem

Looking for a man who will not be startled by an adult woman

The messages I get fall into three groups. There are men who tell me I look wonderful for my age, which is a sentence with a knife inside it. There are men who explain that they prefer mature women, in the tone of somebody announcing a public service. And then there are the ones who write about something I actually said, and there are roughly as many of those per year as there are public holidays.

Fifty six, the north shore, twelve years of this, married thirty. Grandchildren, a decent job, and a husband who finds this board considerably more entertaining than I do.

What I am after has not changed in a decade. Somebody to have dinner with every few weeks who is good company and in no hurry. A conversation that would be worth having even if nothing else were on offer. A man in his forties, fifties or sixties, I genuinely do not mind which, who is not still carrying something unresolved out of a divorce. I have had two of those, and both times I ended up being somebody's evidence that they were still interesting, which is a tiring job I did not apply for.

I should say I am not on here often. I look every couple of weeks, and more in winter than in summer, because January in this house is complete chaos and there is no room in it for anything else at all.

Not looking for anybody who needs me to be flattered. I have been married thirty years to a man who is very good at it, and the amateur version is worse than nothing.

Before the first drink Replying goes through the connected platform, so nothing about you is shared until you decide to share it. Take contact slowly and keep identifying details back until trust is earned. Meet somewhere public the first time, with your own way home from it, and if you are a couple then go together. Tell someone outside it where you are going. Never send money to someone you have not met. And if a post or a reply reads wrong, flag it rather than talking yourself out of the feeling.
