Well, I snapped my original black HT2 in the small size…so I picked up a replacement cage and could tell the difference right away. This new one looks like a smoked clear-black material that feels more rigid…my previous cage was more of a solid opaque black plastic. It’s a bit odd; just curious if anyone else has seen this too. In the photo, the cage on the left is the newer model…it’s being backlit…the glow you see is shining through it.

Perhaps they adjusted the formula to boost durability? That could be a positive change. Maybe we should update the thread subject to: HT quality has improved tremendously! Given your single-data-point sample, it’s hard to say for sure. Is the color shift the main reason you feel the quality dropped? The manufacturer might need clearer communication regarding material and hue changes. I’ve had my own complaints with them (now resolved) but basing a negative thread on something as subtle as a color change feels a bit premature to me.
