Mature Metal discussion

Hello everyone:) I’m close to placing an order for a Jailbird, and as suggested, I’ve been testing out the measuring rings. The cage length and diameters look good to me, but I’m hesitating on which base ring size to choose. I definitely know that 2 inches is too large, so it’s down to choosing between the 1 7/8 inch and the 1 3/4 inch options. The 1 3/4 inch ring feels impossible for me because both testicles won’t fit through. It seems like this size should pass the one-finger test, but unless I use a liter of lube and a bucket of ice, that stubborn ball refuses to go in. lol. With the 1 7/8 inch ring, I can wear it comfortably during the day without issues. I can fit two fingers through up to the first joint/knuckle, which doesn’t seem like the perfect fit. However, at night (or even during daytime) when erections happen, this ring digs into the lower part of my scrotum so deeply that it’s nearly unbearable. I don’t mind the pain itself; what worries me is circulation. During one night alone, I woke up four times with erection-related pain. Getting the ring off at those moments feels impossible because it’s just too tight. The area in question is under the penis but near the bottom of the scrotum. As you know, this spot swells significantly during an erection (whether wearing a ring or not), and I feel like the ring is completely cutting off/crushing whatever plumbing—blood vessels or otherwise—is passing through there. So here are my two questions:

1. Is this level of restriction and pain considered normal if the measurement is right? I assume some temporary constriction must be “normal,” otherwise everyone would just wear larger rings.
2. Of course, I’m only using a measuring ring now, but once I have the full device on, assuming my cage diameter and length are correct, will this prevent a full erection from happening? If so, that might minimize swelling at the bottom of the scrotum and reduce the restriction pain as well.
