It might be a small shift, but it marks an alteration in how you view the duration of your time locked up. Eleven months back, I always saw the release date as such a big number, yet now I feel it isn’t really that large. Before, I’d tell myself there were still three weeks left and get anxiety spikes worrying about whether I could last it out. Lately though, my thought is more like, “Only three weeks to go,” since I’ve already managed past similar stretches; the time feels close at hand rather than distant off in the future.
I hope that makes sense. There’s a moment when your period of chastity stops feeling as lengthy as it once did, even if by now there are actually a couple more weeks added to it. Just a slight adjustment in attitude. P.S. I realize I’m posting frequently; this is my way of channeling excess sexual energy.:) Besides, starting a few new discussions seems beneficial. Over on other boards I frequent, there are only about seven fresh replies for the whole week. Not much point dropping in more than once monthly. To me, being locked up is mostly a mental fetish rather than purely physical. Also, similar to my early tries at giving up smoking, you figure out how to handle or sidestep past errors. It took five attempts before I finally quit completely thirteen years ago. Success came only when my head was in the right place. Previously, whenever it got tough or anxiety crept in about not being able to smoke, I’d stop trying so early. I didn’t want it enough back then. This last time worked because I desired quitting so intensely that enduring anything became acceptable for the goal. It felt like me versus the massive tobacco corporations; since I’m naturally competitive, there was strong motivation to triumph.
As they say, first you must straighten out your mind.
