I just bought a Contender from Mark over at MCN. It got here incredibly fast and matched my specs perfectly. The build quality is excellent; every component was aligned properly, and the welds are flawless. Compared to my older steel models, this one weighs much less. I dropped down half a ring size, moving from 1 3/4 inches to 1 5/8ths. There’s no more sagging or spinning around anymore. I opted for the version with the security screw setup. We did have some trouble getting it tightened enough using my wife’s pendant key, but a quick quarter-turn with the included allen wrench fixed that right up. My wife absolutely loves her pendant key and has been wearing it non-stop since day one. She noticed immediately that the cage doesn’t bend much at all—it projects outward slightly. The cage measures 2 3/8 inches long and is visible when she wears tighter trousers. Peeing while standing is a breeze, thanks to the open design which makes alignment simple. I’ve ditched my Q-tip entirely, and cleaning up in the shower is effortless. However, that openness does come with some downsides; I now have to wear softer underwear to avoid zippers and rough seams catching on it—ouch! That wasn’t really a problem when I was using my Chinese A272.
It’s only been a few days since I started wearing the device, but comfort seems to improve daily. I’m experiencing some mild ball burn, which I suspect is just part of adjusting to the slightly tighter base ring. So far, my impression is very good.
