I want to begin by admitting that writing isn’t really my strong suit, and sharing thoughts on an open forum like this doesn’t happen often for me. So please bear with the mess I’m about to lay out.
To start with a bit of background: My husband and wife have been together happily for just over 12 months. However, it turns out things weren’t quite as harmonious as I initially believed. While we juggle several issues, I’ll highlight two specific ones here. First, she feels that I don’t cater to her needs in the manner she prefers. Second, we both agree that my masturbation habits are mistimed. I use it primarily for stress relief, but because we’re trying to conceive, it messes with my ability to perform when she desires me—especially since we often want intimacy at opposite times of day.
We have dabbled in chastity during our relationship before, but usually only for short periods. After reading stories about how it has benefited other couples, I proposed that we give it a more serious try (alongside some professional counseling). Partly to keep my hands off myself, and partly hoping that by not focusing on self-pleasure, I’ll become more attuned to her desires in bed. We shall see if this brings positive changes to our dynamic; fingers crossed.
