Since I don’t wear cages long-term, we haven’t spent a fortune on them (except for the custom penis plug). So I just use an inexpensive metal cage from China. It’s made of steel, comfortable, discreet, secure, and you can even urinate while standing without issue. If you’re browsing eBay for a budget option, avoid going too cheap. Firstly, ensure it is stainless steel rather than chrome-plated. A seller who emphasizes the quality of their steel is usually reliable. Next, check that they provide different ring sizes and preferably sell rings separately. You have to experiment with this; if the ring is too tight, it’s uncomfortable, but if it’s too loose, it pulls painfully. Regardless of other factors, avoid buying one with a urethral insert. It’s also handy if you can make minor adjustments yourself. I wrapped heat shrink around the ring to cover joints and add extra softness. I’ve also created my own set of spacers to get the spacing just right. The general consensus for really long-term wear is that fully custom-made (and pricey) cages are best. However, if you shop wisely on eBay, there are usable cages available that will help you decide how much money you want to spend. That said, my wife recently found one she thinks I should get because it “looks nice,” disregarding all the technical advice.
