I’m getting ready to buy a Mature Metal Jail Bird and I can’t decide between using a regular padlock, a security screw, or both of them. Because of my job, I can’t wear the device while working, but I do put it on during the commute home. That means a standard padlock is essential, unless my wife/KH leaves me with the key to the security screw, which would kind of defeat the point. Still, having the security screw available at home sounds nice and we want that flexibility. So, I emailed Mature Metal about using both locking methods together, and they said it’s easy to add a second hole to the post—one for a padlock and one for the security screw. They also mentioned that you can use the threaded hole with just a padlock without damaging the threads.
Does anyone here have both options on their Mature Metal device? If so, how has your experience been? Does anyone use only the threaded security screw hole but fit a padlock into it? Any thread damage there?
I’d really appreciate any info. Thanks!
