Last night, while kneeling and massaging my KH/spouse’s feet, I thought about how far we’ve traveled on this path. She was chatting with a friend on the phone, smiling at me as she knew I was pushing against the limits of my CD cage. She even mentioned to her pal that I was giving her a footrub. Only a couple of years ago, our vanilla pair began exploring MC together. Our progress has been uneven; she would get into it, then retreat, usually because something I did or said made her doubt. Medical problems and daily life also got in the way along the route. What have we picked up? For me, MC is just one piece of our bond, not everything. I’ve figured out how to avoid topping from below, even though that’s a huge challenge for me; I mostly follow her lead. She has grasped the key lesson: this isn’t about my desires, it’s about hers. That line comes up constantly now. When I grumble occasionally about needing so much attention, she reminds me, ‘Isn’t this really not about you?’ We are both still growing as our budding D/s dynamic unfolds. Reflecting on that moment with her feet in hand and the cage pressing tight, I realize this is my true self, and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be at this second. It amazes me how much we’ve achieved, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.
