I suspect this topic has surfaced previously, but lately I’ve noticed the chatroom isn’t seeing much traffic. It seems some former regulars have stopped visiting because the lingering chat history lets everyone peek into past conversations.

If we cleared the history for users upon leaving and ensured newcomers only see messages from their entry point forward, it could address these worries and draw people back to what I consider a vital hub of this wonderful community.

This is an excellent site, and the chatroom ought to be its flagship feature. Lately, however, that flag has wilted! What are your thoughts?

Every thread on this board is somebody in the same few months of their life, told from different ends of it: the conversation that has not happened yet, the one that ended in tears, the drink that went well, and the weeks afterwards. The site has a page for each, and one account of an evening written while it was still fresh.
