Mature Metal discussion

I recently picked up a new double ring and went down one size for my partner, as I’ve been wearing the old one for nearly two years. The smaller fit worked well for the first four days, but then both my foreskin and scrotum swelled slightly. There was no pain or discoloration, so everything looked fine. Is this just my body adjusting to a snugger ring? It is the right size; I can still slide a finger underneath… Help! This has never happened to me before.
