Alright, I was out walking with my family when suddenly I got this sensation that it might slip off. I patted my pocket to check and confirmed the base ring was in place. Yet, the feeling of wrongness persisted. Deciding I needed a trip to the bathroom, we made our way over.
It began to feel like it was perched on the verge of detaching, but the base ring still seemed secure. My anxiety grew with each step. Just as I turned the corner near the restroom—thank goodness for that spot where no one could see—I felt it drop down my leg.
I reached down to catch it and… it was only the cage. When my wife had locked it earlier, she hadn’t clicked the lock fully shut. The base ring remained fine while the cage came loose. Since I hadn’t considered this possibility at first, I couldn’t quite make sense of what was happening.
It could have been a major embarrassment. Luckily, it turned out to be more humorous than mortifying. And best of all, I got to enjoy my night!
