It’s an interesting event involving a decent old wolfdog padlock. We’ve had this lock for several months now, and it stays on except during playtimes, so it’s typically worn in the bath and such. This morning I headed to my doctor’s appointment while MsM went to unlock me before leaving for work … but the key wouldn’t even slide into the shackle properly. After a quick test with some CRC lubricant there was no difference, so I just snipped it off with side-cutters (luckily they’re made of fairly soft metal). I’ve checked it since and can spot nothing wrong inside, so my best guess is that one of those small internal pieces has rusted shut. And yes, I know all too well what assumptions are!! Anyway, partly this is a bonus for these locks because you can cut them off without needing diamond blades or gas cutting!!! d Later thought: does anyone regularly oil their padlock to protect it from bath water etc?
